Welcome!
This the public site for the final project of Stanford University's course titled "GIS for Good: Applications of GIS for International Development and Humanitarian Assistance." While teaching the basics of geographic information system (GIS), this service learning course partnered students with humanitarian organizations to develop projects with real world applications in the field of humanitarian, and specifically, refugee, work. Our three-person team developed a methodology and a series of maps for Ennead Architects in order to efficiently locate optimal site locations for refugee camps and settlements. We accomplished this by applying expert knowledge to the selection of the environmental and social factors that go into building a successful refugee camp. We were then able to apply the methodology to locate the best places for refugee populations to settle in Uganda. Click on the "Our Project" tab to learn more and read below for more information about the team!
